Headaches

Chronic pain management

These include neck pain and lower back pain, shingles, diabetic neuropathy, fibromyalgia and nerve or neuropathic pain. Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is one of the most painful medical disorders.

Nerve pain across any part of the body is tiring, worrying and uncomfortable. Some conditions can be severe enough to prevent eating. In other cases the pain can continue for years if not treated. Stroke

Strokes, transient ischemic attack (TIA), intracranial bleeds. The effects of a stroke can in some cases cause paralysis and a resultant loss of awareness, thinking and memory to the patient. Neuromuscular disorders can be caused by nerve injury, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, or can be genetic such as spinal musclare atrophy (SMA). Muscle disorders show themselves through weakness in the limbs, neck and swallowing muscles. They can also be painful and as many are progressive disorders, the weakness becomes worse over time.

Diagnositic modalities including EMG and genetic testing are utilised to determine the cause before treatment is initiated. Nerve conduction studies for disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome are also useful. We also offer muscle biopsy services to confirm difficult to diagnose muscle disorders. Our professional staff will prescribe patients a course of treatment including medication, therapeutic exercise and rest to bring the wrists and arms back to normal.

Dementia

Including Alzheimer’s disease , vascular dementia, Lewys body dementia, Fronto -Temporal dementia and Parkinson’s Disease. Dementia is usually a disease of aging. Most dementias are typified by the progressive loss of memory although specific symptoms such as speech difficulties, personality changes and difficulty with movement are specific to different dementia conditions. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common type of dementia accounting for sixty percent of all dementias.

Patients suffering from Alzheimer’s disease usually suffer from memory difficulties. If left untreated most patients will end up in nursing homes within five to six years. In severe cases, patients will even forget their way home. Sleep Disorders
